About Me
Hello, my name is Kade Wren
I’m a photographer from The Woodlands, Texas who currently attends Sam Houston State University. I also works for the college as one of the assistant photographers for Sam Houston’s integrated marketing communications department. I mainly specializes in photographing landscapes with steam locomotives in black and white. I will be graduating from Sam Houston State University in the spring of 2026 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in photography. I’ve exhibited work at the student Satellite Gallery with the show Organ Mea, the Student Arts Association Senior Preview and the 26th Annual Juried Exhibition. I’ve also shown work through the Holy G Art Complex XSpaces under professor Joshua Backus. He’s shown work outside of Sam Houston State University such as Ardest Art Gallery with the Through The Lens exhibition.
I strive to make my photographic work the best it can be by applying lessons learned from my professors at Sam Houston State University—Rebecca Finley, Emily Peacock, and Lisa Harris—whose expertise in composition, lighting, and storytelling shaped my approach. Their critiques taught me to see beyond the frame, refine technical skills, and prioritize intentional narrative in every image. I’ve also benefited greatly from Justin Calhoun at Sam Houston Integrated Marketing Communications, whose practical guidance on branding, audience engagement, and project workflow has helped me deliver work that is both visually strong and strategically effective. Together, these mentors have grounded my practice in creativity, discipline, and professional standards.
